Keeping it level
It might sound too simple but not keeping your shot level with the horizon is an all to common mistake and one that is easy to avoid if you take a second or two.

Landscape phoptography, unlike some other types, lends itself to taking your time. Check that the horizon is flat especially when including the sea before pressing the shutter release. Include in this category posed photos of people with the horizon visible behind them.

You can quickly fix this in Photoshop (or most image editing software) but, as always, getting it right in-camera means you don't have to spend time sorting it later.
